Air Marshal Anil Chopra, (Retd), PVSM, AVSM, VM, VSM

A fighter pilot, test pilot, and a pioneer of Mirage-2000 fleet, who commanded a Mirage 2000 Squadron and the Flight Test Centre, Aircraft and Systems Testing Establishment (ASTE) of the Indian Air Force (IAF). Was the Team Leader of India’s MiG 21 Bison Upgrade project in Russia.  Has commanded operational airbases in both Western and Eastern sectors.  Was the head of IAF in J&K, and head of operational Inspections of the IAF. Retired as head of HR as Air Officer Personnel, and was also responsible for education and training. Has been a member of the Armed Forces Tribunal, Lucknow Bench, and member of the Executive Council of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). He has also been as advisor on a committee of the National Green Tribunal. In addition to the four Presidential awards, he is recipient of Gandhi Family Peace Medal for his work in J&K. He has over 400 published articles on air power and strategy and is currently writing a book on “Rise of Chinese aerospace power – Implications and Options India”. 

Anil Chopra appears on television shows almost every week to talk about pressing issues in the world of defence and external affairs.
